MANAGING DIRECTOR – ASTRID TIMMERS
Astrid is a mother, nurse, management executive, experienced business owner and disability advocate. She has been building and operating health, disability, aged care, veterans and community care services in regional, remote and metropolitan Western Australia and South East Asia for over 30 years. This industry exposure including awareness of; disability related service gaps, group home operations and use of aged care as the only home for many young people empowered Astrid to pursue better lifestyle outcomes for these individuals. She now leads the Ability Housing team to provide fit for purpose housing for people living with complex disabilities to optimize their independence, community connection and value creation.
Astrid is a Board Director with the SDA Alliance and sits on the NDIS Commission Stakeholder Reference Group. These roles provide strategic insights and direct communication with lead NDIS related agencies.
Astrid leads our development and service delivery team across our range of SDA projects. Her passionate interest is in enhancing life outcomes for marginalized individuals through the provision of well-located, tailored living environments, that are effectively managed and designed with and for the end users. Additionally, she finds great satisfaction working to develop specialized housing that will provide life-changing social returns while also meeting business needs for organizational innovation and growth.
Astrid also acts as a pro bono advisor and consultant for a health and developmental disability service organizations and has a long history of working as a volunteer director with various social purpose enterprises, such as Community West and other groups within the aged and community care space.
